Everyone anticipates the good times that the summer brings. Summer is, by far, the season in which we enjoy the most captivating activities, such as softball, swimming, golfing, 4th of July celebrations, family parties, etc. One of the most thrilling things in the summer is having friends and family to your home. Everyone thinks of ice cold drinks and grilling as the mainstays for a successful outdoor celebration, but another ingredient of a memorable backyard gathering, is serving your guests warm drinks.
As the summer sun begins to go down, the chill in the air may prompt your visitors to seek the warmth of a blanket. This is when you are allowed to be the best host and provide your family members and friends the option of something warm to drink. Cooking coffee over a firepits are one of the best ways to accomplish this.
The first part is to make sure the coals are hot enough to cook. That should mean you do not glimpse any flames in that fire pit. Conversely, you should have a nice bed of glowing coals giving off heat. The water must get hot enough to make the coffee, so do not allow the coals to cool, or you might be a long time finishing the task.
A traditional percolator is the greatest pot to utilize to make your coffee. You can find one at any outdoor store or big box retailer. When your fire has reached the coal stage, remove the lid, grounds basket, and basket stem from the percolator. Using cold water, stock your percolator to the three quarter mark. Cold water will give the coffee more flavor than warm water. Once the water has been added, put back the stem and basket. For every instance of 6 ounces of cool water, put one big tablespoon of coarse ground coffee into the grounds basket. Put the percolator on a grill directly over the fire pit’s warmest area.
Look at your watch when you can hear the coffee start to boil. Let the coffee boil for five minutes before removing it from the heat. For five extra minutes, have the coffee continue to bubble. Open the percolator and excise the two inside portions. Set the lid back on the percolator without replacing the basket and basket stem. Serve your guests and yourself a serving of this tasty, warm coffee. Try cooking coffee over a fire pit to impress your guests at your next party. Thrill in the experience!
